HALLOWEEN PRECAUTIONS – 10/09/2008
Whether you have little goblins yourself, or goblins coming to your house for trick-or-treat, it’s important to remember to protect your pets.
Most people know that chocolate can be deadly to dogs. Most of the time it doesn’t take much for your dog to ingest before tragedy strikes.
Remember to keep candy out of your pet’s reach. If you have children, remind them to keep their candy in a safe place, away from your pets. Chocolate is tasty not only to humans, but to dogs too. Please remember to protect them from their own weaknesses.
If you have treats that you’re going to throw out, take the trash outside and dispose of it. We all know how crafty our dogs can be about getting into the wastebasket. Keeping temptation out of harm’s reach is the best precaution you can take to ensure your pet’s safety.
If you live in an area that gets a lot of trick-or-treaters, the doorbell will ring often and the door will be opening and closing a lot. Its best to put your animals in another area of the house, or in a crate, with some of their own treats, to avoid them running out of the house in the excitement of the moment. Its so easy for a small dog to slip out of the house unnoticed, and run off. By the time you notice the dog is gone, it could be too late. The possibility of them becoming scared by all the ghosts and goblins can add to their anxiety, and keep them running away from, instead of toward, safety. Chances of them running into the road and being hit by a car, rise dramatically.
Please, to avoid unforeseen accidents that could result in tragedy, keep your dogs in a safe area of the house, with their favorite blankets, treats, and toys, so they are relaxed and stress free.
We have many new treats this month that can help you do just that – be sure to check out our new rawhide bones and cookie treats that we can ship right out to arrive before the 31st. We want your pets to remain happy and safe so they are with you for many years to come –
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
