BECKY'S COMMENTS: Let's face it - longhaired animals are going to need brushing to keep them looking and feeling good. If you start grooming from day 1, it will be an enjoyable experience - not one that the minute you pick up the brush, everyone disappears. I like a slicker brush for my dogs, it does the best job of removing loose undercoat. If done daily or at least several times a week, it won't take long, and you'll prevent those hurtful mats from forming in your pet's coat. Brushing your dog's coat daily also affords you the opportunity to check for any body changes (lumps, sore spots, etc) and finds any unwelcome guests (ticks or fleas). Gentle daily brushing offers bonding time and lets you tell your pet just how beautiful they are. What dog doesn't like to be told they are SO Beautiful - boy or girl? Its not that they're vain, its just that they like to hear the truth over and over. |
